An unattended grass field just a short taxi ride from town and the beach.
Landing fees are $10 (Feb 2012) paid into the honesty box at the club.
While Whitianga doesn't have anything at the field itself, it is a short taxi ride in to the local shops and a great beach. It should cost you around $15 each way for a great summers day at the beachside town.

Our favourite cafe was Cafe Nina. This cafe has a great menu, lots to choose from and great quality food. The coffee is great too. There is an outdoor courtyard eating area that is really nice for groups. The hours are a bit random and it's closed some days, so check before you go, but if you manage to catch them open youll get a great feed. Brunch finishes early!
If you dont catch Nina's open, try the Coghill cafe. There are quite a few cafes in town of varying quality but Whitianga is a great place to visit.
If you'd like to stay the night, there are heaps of Motels around town.
If you'd like an apartment style of Motel, the Ocean Resort is a nice place to stay. The manager is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are nice and modern, clean and have pretty much everything you'd wish for. A short walk to town or the beach.
