Best time of Year to go Anytime. Although it's grass it is on a sand base which drains well year round
Food on the airport No but only a pleasant 5 min walk in to town where there are plenty of Cafes and Restaurants to choose from.
Fuel available No. Plan accordingly
Landing fees Yes. Greasr field.
Comments about arriving & departing Grass field. Mowed regularly but has many Rabbit holes. Beware for pedestrians not observing the signs and crossing the runway.
Things to do near the airport

Lots of eating. Swimming and surfing nearby.

Fish and chips on the beach or local park.

Many accomodation possibilities. The airfield is next to the campground but also hotel and many motels.

Highly popular with surfies young and old due to its proximity to Wainui surf beach, Raglan is a very worthwhile trip. A short 10 min walk across a walkbridge into town reveals a small friendly town with several cafes.

We tried two and can recommend the 'The Shack' cafe (formerly Tounge and Groove) for great coffee and food.

I'm told it is also fun to get fish and chips and eat them on the beach!!

Its a 10 minute walk into town over a footbridge and along a lovely shaded path.

Raglan is our favorite destination.

'The Shack' Cafe. Great coffee and food.

I would go as far as to say that it would even be worth flying to Raglan to go for a swim since it is just a short walk from the airfield to the beach.
